STEAMPUNK FICTIONHISTORY TOOK ANOTHER TURN.

The blueprint should not work. The date in the corner makes even less sense. Brass fittings, impossible engines, private airships and inventions history somehow forgot to build - steampunk begins with evidence that the past may have taken another route.

THE FIRST CLUE

THE STORY GETS STRANGER FROM HERE.

We treat steampunk as its own kind of world rather than merely a branch of science fiction. It can hold invention, mystery, fantasy, alternate history, romance and adventure. The pleasure lies in finding a world that looks almost familiar until the machinery starts moving.

FROM THE JOURNAL

NOTES FROM THIS SHELF.

The Art of Automata: Mechanical Creatures, Clockwork People, and Machines That Seem AliveA writing boy in Neuchâtel dips a quill because a stack of brass cams told his wrist to. Automata are machines that rehearse life until the audience supplies a soul.Alternate History Books About the World That Nearly HappenedThe present feels inevitable only from this side of the door. These books rebuild the kitchens, slang, and signal towers that would have followed a different click.Steampunk Books Where History Built Something ElseA boiler does not care whether the novel around it is optimistic. In the real nineteenth century, pressurized steam killed people constantly, and the best steampunk fiction never lets you forget it.
