BLACKSMITHING
HAND-FORGED WROUGHT IRON & ANVIL SHAPING
Heating iron in coke forge fires to hammer out graceful gothic scrolls, fish-tail tapers, riveted collars, and mortise-and-tenon joints on steel anvils.
Iron is the bone structure of civilization: rigid, unyielding, and eternal. Yet at cherry-red heat, it moves beneath the hammer like warm clay. In the Wolfesque universe, metalwork represents enduring protection and tactile strength, safeguarding sanctuaries with forged iron.
Formed in the wolfesque style, our metalwork craft connects the relic design of Jewelry Design with the spatial presence of Interior Design, the physical modeling of Sculpture, and the artisan heritage of Crafts.
Six core blacksmithing and metalcraft disciplines guide our architectural ironwork, relief chasing, and hardware.
BLACKSMITHING
Heating iron in coke forge fires to hammer out graceful gothic scrolls, fish-tail tapers, riveted collars, and mortise-and-tenon joints on steel anvils.
SHEET METAL RELIEF
Hammering ductile sheets of copper, brass, and silver from both sides into pitch bowls to sculpt high-relief animal masks, foliage, and crests.
BLADESMITHING
Forge-welding alternating high-carbon and nickel alloy steels, twisting the billet under hammer blows, and acid-etching to reveal flowing organic woodgrain patterns.
ARCHITECTURAL HARDWARE
Forging heavy fleur-de-lis strap hinges, sliding bolt locks, hand-peened iron studs, and beast-headed door knockers for solid oak portal doors.
LIGHT & SHADOW METAL
Chiseling and piercing sheet iron into decorative window grilles, torch braziers, and gothic lantern cages that cast geometric shadow patterns across stone walls.
SURFACE PROTECTION
Quenching black-heat iron in raw beeswax and linseed oil mixtures to create a deep, rust-resistant matte black patina that feels soft and velvety to the touch.
