Fantasy Fiction
Most maps end where the interesting part begins. There are countries no atlas records, roads that appear only after dusk, ruins whose names survived longer than the kingdoms around them. Someone has already been there. Someone left stories behind. Fantasy fiction is where we begin looking for them.
THE FIRST CLUE
The strange thing about invented worlds is how often they feel remembered. A language you have never heard sounds familiar. A ruined tower feels like somewhere you once dreamed about. A road disappears beyond a hill and you want, irrationally, to know where it goes. That is the moment the story has you.
ONE LAST THING
If one of these places feels familiar, do not worry about why. Some worlds seem to recognize their readers before the readers recognize them.
